"Einstein Professor” Wing Hung Wong Visits BIG

Prof. Wing Hung Wong, a world renowned scholar in Statistics and Health Research and Policy, visited Beijing Institute of Genomics (BIG), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on May 31.

Dr. WU Chung-I, the director of BIG, awarded certificate of “Einstein Professorship of CAS” to Prof. Wing Hung Wong. Prof. Wong delivered a lecture entitled “Completely phased genome sequencing and its applications”. The report is about the method and its applications in the study of human diseases and the study of gene regulation. This method had been developed recently that combines chromosome sorting and new generation sequencing to obtain genomic sequences that are completely phased across the entire genome. In this talk, he reviewed this method and its applications in the study of human diseases and the study of gene regulation.

After that, Prof. Wong had a discussion with the researchers and postgraduates of BIG, his visit is also a part of the Einstein Professorship Program of the CAS.

Prof. Wong is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, USA and member of Academia Sinica Academician and the director of Department of Statistics, Stanford University.
