2012 High-throughput Sequencing Data Analysis and Approaches Workshop (HSDA&A) was held in Beijing on 6th and 7th December 2012.

Internationally renowned experts were invited from Bioinformatics Institute in Singapore, Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, University of Texas, University of Arizona, and many high reputational institutes and universities from USA, Hongkong, Taiwan, CAS, and etc., to provide their insights on the recent development of high-throughput genomics and bioinformatics.

2012 HSDA&A focused on “High throughput Era of Genomics”, and has three scientific topics: (1) High-throughput Sequencing Approaches; (2) High-throughput Data Analysis and Bioinformatics tool development; (3) Next-Generation Sequencing Applications & Translational Research.

Prof. YU Jun, President of the 2012 HSDA&A from Beijing Institute of Genomics (BIG), CAS, gave a welcome speech to all the participants. He also presented his best wishes at the meeting that the workshop would promote genomics and bioinformatics analysis approaches, enhance the commercialization of related technologies and research findings, as well as improve economics and people’s life with biological industry.

Prof. Frank Eisenhaber, Director of Bioinformatics Institute in Singapore, said that “the institute (BIG) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in this (high-throughput sequencing) area has a very strong position” in the world high-throughput field. He hopes that the development of high-throughput sequencing data analysis and approaches in the near future will solve medical and biological problems.
