Scholars from Developing Countries Visit BIG

The scholars from developing countries who are also the participants for the course Molecular Basis of Diagnosis, Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, visited Beijing Institute of Genomics (BIG), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on Oct 23.
 

Professor CHEN Fei as one of the main speaker of the course hosted a symposium and gave a speech on Gene Testing, which covered the necessity of gene testing and several testing methods in clinical use currently. Major breakthroughs in this field were also introduced. And then Professor CHEN and the attendees had a lively discussion.

After that, the scholars visited the roof-deck of new building, the sequencing room and the mainframe room. They all highly commended the environment of BIG.

 

The training course for scholars from developing countries is sponsored by CAS and organized by the Institute of Biophysics, CAS. It aims to update participants’ knowledge about the molecular mechanisms of infections, to help participants better understand and utilize the technologies on diagnosis, prevention the treatment of infectious diseases; Also to enhance mutual understanding on gene testing, thus

 

promoting exchange and cooperation between Chinese researchers and scholars from other developing countries in the fight against infectious diseases.
