Beijing Institute of Genomics of Chinese Academy of Sciences/China National Center for Bioinformation (BIG/CNCB) is a government-funded research institution in life sciences. BIG/CNCB is committed to studying genomic structure, variation, function and evolution, formulating new theories, and developing innovative genomic technologies. It is also devoted to fostering the development of inter and multidisciplinary areas between genomics and other disciplines.
On November 13th, 2019, the State Commission of Public Sectors Reform officially approved the formation of CNCB with a mission to carry out biodata depository and management as well as cross disciplinary frontier research and development in bioinformation.
BIG/CNCB aims for an innovative research base for genome and bioinformation studies, a training base for talents, and a center of excellence in the fields of genomics and bioinformation.
