Bioinformatics Services Department

Introduction:

The Bioinformatics Services Department (BSD) was established in 2024 as one research division of China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB). It is also a component part of the National Genomics Data Center (NGDC). Dedicated to advancing the high-quality development of CNCB, BSD undertakes core functions encompassing service provision, technical support, management coordination, and system development. It plays a pivotal role in fostering progress within bioinformatics and enhancing the sharing of genomic data resources.

Led by Prof. SONG Shuhui, BSD is comprised of 8 members, forming a professional and highly skilled team. The department’s core responsibilities include: delivering user support, bioinformatics services, and technical training related to CNCB’s data resources, algorithmic tools, and application systems; managing academic societies and associations affiliated with CNCB; planning, constructing, and developing the sub-center network under the National Genomics Data Center; and conducting research and analysis on policies relevant to CNCB’s development, along with formulating, coordinating, and refining corresponding supportive mechanisms and standardized systems to underpin CNCB’s development and construction.

Guided by a work philosophy of rigor, pragmatism, innovation, and service commitment, the Bioinformatics Service Department will fully leverage its professional strengths, continuously enhance service quality, and strengthen technical support capabilities. BSD is committed to making significant contributions to the high-quality advancement of China’s bioinformatics discipline and the high-standard development of CNCB.
