Introduction:
The Department of Tool and Software Development aims to build a software tool ecosystem for bioinformatics analysis, provide cutting-edge bioanalysis capabilities, establish itself as the core intelligent engine for the CNCB, and serve the life science research community across China and globally.

Missions/Research Directions:
Addressing the common needs of biological big data analysis and data security and privacy, we develop foundational core algorithms, cutting-edge software tools, next-generation genome browsers, and artificial intelligence models; build an integrated bioinformatics cloud computing platform; build bioinformatics developer community; and promote the growth of a big data–driven bioinformatics ecosystem.
