Data Resources Department
Introduction:
The Data Resources Department was established in 2024 as one research division of China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB). It is also a component part of the National Genomics Data Center (NGDC).
Head: Prof. ZHANG Zhang
Deputy Head: Dr. XU Tianyi
Principle Investigators (in alphabetical order): DU Zhenglin,LI Rujiao,MA Lina, MI Shuangli,SONG Shuhui, XIAO Jingfa, ZHANG Zhang, ZHAO Wenming
Missions:
Towards the major national needs, integrate important biological data from China and around the world, establish a full chain management system for the submission, deposition, annotation, integration, and sharing of biological data, develop a multi-dimensional data resource sharing platform and key technologies for life and health, as well as promote the construction of the national biological data center system.
Research Highlights:
The Data Resources Department, as part of the China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB) and the National Genomics Data Center (NGDC), provides a suite of database resources for worldwide researchers. As multi-omics big data and artificial intelligence (AI) reshape the paradigm of biology research, we continuously updates our database resources to enhance data usability, foster knowledge discovery, and support data-driven innovative research. Over the past year, notable progresses have been achieved in expanding the scope of high-quality multi-omics datasets, building new database resources, and optimizing extant core resources. Notably, the launch of BIG Search enables cross-database search services for large-scale biological data platforms, including NGDC, NCBI, and EBI. Additionally, several new resources have been developed, covering genome and variation (Hiland Resource, TOAnnoPriDB), expression (TEDD), single-cell omics (PreDigs, scMultiModalMap, TE-SCALE), radiomics (TonguExpert), health and disease (CAVDdb, IDP, MTB-KB, ResMicroDb), biodiversity and biosynthesis (SugarcaneOmics), as well as research tools (Dingent, miMatch, OmniExtract, RDBSB, xMarkerFinder). All these resources and services are freely accessible at https://ngdc.cncb.ac.cn.
